Jennie L. Osborne’s practice is devoted solely to matrimonial and family law, where she represents clients in all matters pertaining to family disputes, including divorce, alimony, child support, child custody, and domestic violence, among others. Ms. Osborne’s approach with every client is to listen to them to gain an understanding of the overall context for their specific legal matter. She maintains this is critical as so many matrimonial and family law cases transcend the particular complaint at hand. By getting a sense of the broader family background, she is able to develop strategies that take all elements into account. Part of her success in doing so is her ability to develop open, trusting relationships with her clients. Given the emotionally wrenching aspects of many family law cases, especially when children are involved, Ms. Osborne works to create a solid outcome that won’t be threatened by multiple challenges and changes in the future.
One of Ms. Osborne’s notable roles was serving as associate trial counsel to former New Jersey Governor James McGreevey in his divorce and custody litigation. The high-profile trial highlighted substantial issues involving joint custody, parenting time, celebrity goodwill valuation and employment evaluation. Intense national and local television, radio and print coverage accompanied the entire hearing, giving the case wide public exposure. Working first-hand on the case, Ms. Osborne gained invaluable experience in dealing with a highly volatile case where much of the legal action was scrutinized and evaluated in the court of public opinion.
