Denville Law Firm Once Again Sponsors Middle School Mock Trial Team

October 20, 2011 | Results may vary depending on your particular facts and legal circumstances.

For the second straight year, Einhorn, Barbarito, Frost & Botwinick, PC announced their firm’s sponsorship of the Valley View Middle School’s Mock Trial team.   At a meeting of the Township of Denville Board of Education meeting on Monday, October 17, 2011, Mr. Theodore E.B. Einhorn, Esq. presented the Denville Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Drucilla Clark with a check to subsidize the program.

The Valley View Mock Trial Club is open to 7th and 8th grade students and conducts its activities as part of New Jersey State Bar Foundation Law Adventure for 7th and 8th grade students.  The New Jersey State Bar Foundation provides the format and rules for the students to create original mock trial cases.  From February through May, students transform written cases into trials. They create characters of plaintiff, defendant and supporting witnesses and write their respective statements.  This year, the cases the students will be developing will be on two different themes:  First Amendment Rights and Product Liability/Consumer Fraud cases.  Working with Social Studies teacher and Mock Trial Club coach, Mark Hoffman, at the Valley View School and the Denville Board of Education is just one more example of the Einhorn Barbarito law firm’s dedication to community service.   Timothy J. Ford, Esq., one of the attorneys at the firm, has agreed to volunteer his time again this year to mentor the students as they prepare the cases for submission to the Bar Foundation for judging.  Dr. Clark praised Mr. Ford for his commitment to the students.  Should they be chosen, the Valley View students would have the opportunity to present their “case” in May, 2012 and receive verdicts from a jury of their student peers.

When asked why Einhorn, Barbarito, Frost & Botwinick, PC wanted to become involved again this year, Mr. Einhorn said:  “While we are happy to help develop the next generation of attorneys, we know that not every student will go on to practice law.  The real reason we continue to support this program is because of the skills these students learn.  They learn how to cooperate with one another, hone presentation abilities, persuasion and critical listening skills and how to think on their feet.  All that they learn during this process will help them in every area of their lives and any profession they choose in the future.”

The lawyers of the New Jersey law firm of Einhorn, Barbarito, Frost & Botwinick, PC practice in a wide variety of areas, including Personal Injury and Workers’ Compensation, Criminal Law, Family and Matrimonial Law, Employment Law, Closely-Held Business Law, Trusts & Estates/Taxation, and Real Estate and Zoning.
