On Wednesday February 29th, 2012, Gary R. Botwinick, Esq. and Jason R. Rittie, Esq. from the Denville, New Jersey Law firm, Einhorn Harris Ascher Barbarito & Frost, PC will be providing a complimentary seminar open to the public called “Legal Stuff For Artists.” hosted by ARTSee, a cooperative of visual artists.  The seminar will be held at the Chabad Jewish Center, 3048 Valley Road, Basking Ridge, NJ at 7:00 pm.

Visual artists – painters, illustrators, photographers, jewelry designers, for example – are incredibly creative; however they sometimes allow the “business” end of what they do to fall by the wayside.  This seminar will allow them to ask two attorneys knowledgeable in small business legal issues questions which affect the way they make money.    Gary R. Botwinick, a partner in the firm and chair of Taxation/Trusts and Estates department will address the issues of taxation that artists need to take into consideration including before, during and after the sale of the artwork;  Jason R. Rittie, counsel to the firm and a member of the Closely Held Business Group and the Land Use & Zoning group,  will talk about how to start a business for your artistic endeavor, creating contracts and other issues that affect the “business” of your art.  In addition, both attorneys will answer specific questions as asked by the artists who attend.

ARTSee is a group of two dozen artists in the Bernardsville – Basking Ridge, NJ area, who have come together to create an event showcasing and promoting our vibrant arts community. For more information go to
