Denville, NJ — The Denville, New Jersey based law firm of Einhorn Harris is one of the Bronze Sponsors for the Lake Drive Foundation’s For the Babies Gala 2013 which is to be held on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at the The Villa at Mountain Lakes.

The sponsorship came about as the result of one of Einhorn Harris’ attorneys’ participation in the Lake Drive Foundation.   Jennifer Fortunato, Esq., Counsel with the firm and a member of the matrimonial and family law departments of the firm, has a child who was born with sensory hearing loss which deteriorated to profound hearing loss (i.e. deafness).  Her daughter’s hearing loss was discovered at birth through newborn screening at Hackensack Hospital.  Ms. Fortunato’s daughter was fitted with hearing aids at six (6) months old.  When her daughter’s hearing began to deteriorate, she was implanted with a Cochlear implant in her left ear at 22 months of age and then implanted in her right ear at four (4) years of age.  Today, Ms. Fortunato’s daughter is nine (9) years old.  She has been successfully mainstreamed in her school district, and is able to function in the “mainstream” world wihought anyone realizing that she has a hearing impairment.

Ms. Fortunato’s daughter’s success would not have been possible without early identification, effective amplification and intensive intervention from birth through her toddler years.  The Lake Drive Foundation provided Ms. Fortunato’s daughter and her family with the intervention they needed to ultimately mainstream her daughter, such as speech therapy, audiology services and group meetings with other families with deaf and heard of hearing children.

The Lake Drive Foundation is a non-profit 501(c) 3 created to support the Lake Drive Programs for Children Who are Deaf or hard of Hearing.  Their Sound Start Program serves infants and toddlers with hearing loss throughout Northern New Jersey helping to cover costs of essential specialized services which many parents cannot afford.  The Lake Drive Foundation’s gala, which will be held in May will raise much needed funds for the Lake Drive Programs.   Ms. Fortunato is a member of the Board for the Gala this year and asked her law firm, Einhorn Harris, to become a sponsor to which they happily agreed.  For more information about the Foundation or Gala www.lakedrivefoundation.com
