Travis Scales

Travis Scales joined the Tax, Trusts & Estates Departments of Einhorn Harris as an Associate in September 2014. Mr. Scales focuses his practice on all aspects of estate planning and administration to implement and execute tax efficient wealth preservation strategies for clients and their families. He also concentrates on federal, state and local tax controversy matters to assist taxpayers.

Mr. Scales came to the firm following his judicial clerkship at the Tax Court of New Jersey with the Honorable Joseph M. Andresini. During his tenure at the Tax Court, he analyzed issues concerning state income, corporate business, sales and use, estate and inheritance, and property tax. He also had the opportunity to mediate small claims cases in the Superior Court of New Jersey throughout his judicial clerkship.

Mr. Scales received a Bachelor of Arts degree from New York University and his Juris Doctor from Seton Hall University School of Law. At Seton Hall Law, he was a Presidential Law Scholar and Treasurer of the Tax Law Society. Mr. Scales currently attends NYU Law and is a degree candidate for a Master of Laws in Taxation.

As a student, Mr. Scales demonstrated his commitment to public service by serving as a Student Director of Seton Hall Law’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program. This IRS sponsored program helps low-income taxpayers prepare their income tax returns. He also worked as a student attorney at the Center of Social Justice where he investigated claims of institutionalized race discrimination and assisted indigent clients in asylum proceedings in the U.S. Immigration Court.
