Andrew S. Berns is a partner of the firm. Mr. Berns is the Chair of the firm's Commercial Litigation practice and the Personal Injury Department. Mr. Berns has significant experience in litigating complex commercial matters and personal injury cases and has tried cases in the United States Federal District Court for the District of New Jersey, Superior Court of New Jersey, Law and Chancery Divisions and the New Jersey Administrative Law Courts. Mr. Berns also has an active practice in the area of Alternate Dispute Resolution. He is a Rule 1:40 Qualified Mediator and has participated in multi-party litigation in State and Federal Courts resulting in multi-million dollar settlements in complex commercial matters, through Arbitration, Mediation and as an advocate on behalf of commercial clients. Mr. Berns maintains trial experience in the following areas: defamation; personal injury; medical and accounting malpractice; products liability, both plaintiff and defense; complex commercial disputes; will contests and other probate matters; construction litigation; employment law and litigation involving professional, medical, accounting and legal entities. Mr. Berns represented one of two plaintiffs in a defamation suit which produced one of the largest judgments awarded for defamation in New Jersey history, Almog et. al v. Israel Travel Advisory Service, Inc., et al., 298 N.J. Super. 145 (App. Div. 1997), certif. granted, 151 N.J. 463 (1997), certif. denied as improvidently granted, 152 N.J. 361 (1998), cert. den.
